RESOLUTION TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING TO CLOSE A PART OF CHESTNUT STREET AS REQUESTED BY JONESBORO SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
WHEREAS, a petition has been filed by Jonesboro Special School District, being the only property owner whose property abuts a certain street which it prays be vacated, said street more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
A part of Chestnut Street described as follows: Beginning at the Northwest corner of Block 8 of Nesbitt’s Second Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; thence in a Westerly direction approximately 50 feet to the Northeast corner of Block 9 of Nesbitt’s Second Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; thence South along the East line of Block 9 approximately 220 feet to the Southeast corner of Block 9; thence East approximately 50 feet to the Southwest corner of Block 8; thence North along the West line of Block 8 approximately 220 feet to the point of beginning proper.
And, WHEREAS, Jonesboro Special School District is the owner of the property abutting said street, and
WHEREAS, petitioner has need for said property to be used as school property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the City Clerk give notice by publication once a week for two consecutive weeks in some newspaper published in Craighead County, advising the public and property owners affected that on the 3rd day of November, 1958, the City Council will hear the petition and determine whether such property shall be abandoned and vacated as a street and whether all abutting property owners and other interested persons have consented to such abandonment.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 6th day of October, 1958.
