AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF FIRE STATION PAGING SYSTEM FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

 

SECTION ONE:  That the Fire Department of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, needs to purchase a fire station paging system.

 

SECTION TWO:  That said equipment may be purchased from Motorola, a sole source, for the sum of $140,186.16 , sales tax included, to be paid from the proceeds from the Fire Hydrant Maintenance Agreement with City Water and Light.

 

SECTION THREE:  That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A.  Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above.

 

SECTION FOUR:  It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this equipment to page fire stations, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of September, 2009.
