CALLED CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - MAY 8, 1986
The City Council met in special session a 4:00 p.m. Present were Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney, and Aldermen Park, Stricklin, Hinson, Strauser, Sanderson Culpepper, Mays, and Nix. Aldermen Evans, Bridger, Shelton, and Hannah were absent.
The Mayor expressed appreciation to the Aldermen who were able to attend called meeting.
One item was on the agenda. The Mayor recognized Mr. John Troutt who presented an item regarding the purchase of a 50-acre tract adjacent to the Industrial Park off East Highland for a prospective major manufacturing plant. He stated that Jonesboro Unlimited and an official of the Chamber of Commerce have entered into preliminary discussion with a major company and the firm would need 50 acres if it decides to locate a facility in Jonesboro.
Mr. Nix moved, seconded by Mr. Stricklin to purchase of 50 acres of land at $1,500 an acre with funds earmarked for Industrial Park expansion and improvements and to refund $15 thousand to Jonesboro Unlimited for optional money. All Aldermen voted aye. The motion passes.
With no further business the meeting adjourned.
