Minutes for the City Council meeting on July 15, 1968

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark., met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, July 15, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Turner, Ledbetter, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Pardew, Copeland, Young, Johnson and Knight.
Mr. Johnson offered the following resolution:
RESOLUTION TO PROCEED WITH CONDEMNATION ACTION ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1002 CARTWRIGHT STREET
Mr. Johnson moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the resolution be adopted. All members voted aye and the motion carried. The resolution was given the number 1968:17.
The Sanitation Committee was asked to study the garbage pickup and recommend back to Council.
Mr. Young offered the following resolution:
RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION TO BOB BENNETT FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO AND ITS CITIZENS AS AN ALDERMAN
Mr. Young moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the resolution be adopted. All voted aye and the motion was carried. The resolution was given the number 1968:18.
Mr. Young moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that Council go into executive session. All voted aye and the motion carried.
After the executive session, Mr. Minx moved with Mr. Young seconding the motion that Dr. Bill Bowers be appointed to serve out the unexpired term of Mr. Bob Bennett. All voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the bills as okayed by the Finance Committee be paid. All aye and the motion carried.
No further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
