BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
 
Section 1: Ordinance No.1651 shall be amended to read as follows:
 
(a)      Section 1 shall read as follows:
Section 9 of Ordinance No.1266 as amended shall be amended to read as follows: There is hereby created the position of Animal Control Officer whose salary shall be fixed by the City Council. The Animal Control Officer shall be entitled to additional help as from time to time is determined by a majority vote of the City Council.
 
Appointment of the Animal Control Officer shall be by the Mayor and shall be a regularly commissioned police officer with full police authorities, subject however, to the consent and approval of the Jonesboro City Council. The Animal Control Officer shall exercise the powers and duties as provided in this Ordinance and in addition thereto shall perform such duties as may be delegated to him by the Mayor and/or City Council.
 
It is hereby made the duty of the Mayor and Animal Control Officer to provide a suitable place to be known and designated as the "City Dog Pound" to carry out the provisions of this ordinance, and including the construction of a suitable number of individual pens where particular dogs may be kept separate and apart from the remainder.
