AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A TRACTOR AND DUMP TRAILER FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the Street Department needs to purchase a used Tractor & Dump Trailer, specifically a used 1988 Ken-worth Twin-Screw Tractor truck Model T-800, serial number 1XKDD29X6JJ510483 and a 1989 Hilbilt Trailer, Tandem Axle Model #22FREX, serial number 1H9AC3A5L1015.38, for immediate use.
SECTION 2: That such vehicle may be purchased from CSC Equipment of Jonesboro, Arkansas for the sum of $60,000.00.
SECTION 3: That the City Council, in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 (2) (B) hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described vehicle for the price set forth in Section 2 above. Said amount shall be paid from budgeted money from the Fixed Asset line item in the Street Department budget.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire an additional motor vehicle for the Street Department an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect from and after its approval.
