AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A RECORDING SYSTEM FOR E-911

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: There is a need to purchase an eight (8) channel recorder and an upgrade to the current recorder for the E- 911 Department;
SECTION 2: Said equipment may be purchased from Dictaphone located in Stafford, Connecticut for the sum of $14,706.00.
SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 (2) (b) hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described equipment for the price set forth in Section 2 above. Said amount shall be paid from unappropriated sales tax and reimbursed by Craighead County.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this equipment an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
