Public Services Committee Minutes
Friday, February 7, 2003
9:30 AM - Huntington Bldg.
Members present: Hargis, Province, McCall and Roddy
Alderman McCall called meeting to order and advised Alderman Young had to be out of town on business.
Jason Wilkie discussed the User Agreement and fees for Joe Mack Campbell Park. He indicated that all involved in the process felt the rates are fair and if anything are less than average rates for parks the same size. For soccer and baseball a $30 per field per day rate was suggested as well as a $10 per hour per field for lighting. Alderman Hargis asked about what the yearly total revenue is collected from City Park fees. Wilkie indicated that he thought this money went into the total general revenue fund for the city but he would find out. Alderman Province indicated that the City should work with CW&L to make sure there is proper reimbursement for electricity costs. Alderman Roddy moved to accept the JMCP User Agreement with the few changes made by Wilkie. Alderman Province seconded and all voted in favor.
Wilkie proposed rates for the climbing wall at Earl Bell, with free climbing days held a couple of times a month. Wilkie mentioned that there has been some discussion of a monthly membership, but he did not want to appear to compete with other entities in the city. Alderman Province suggested we wait to find out the wall’s usage before we decide to look into a monthly membership. Alderman Hargis moved to accept the rates that Wilkie proposed. Alderman Roddy seconded and all voted in favor.
Meeting adjourned.
