CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, SEPTEMBER 6, 1983

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Tuesday September 9, 1983, at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and all aldermen.

The minutes of August 15, 1983, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Sanderson, seconded by Mr. Hannah. All voted aye.

The following ordinance was on 3rd reading: (Plastic Pipe)

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE PLUMBING CODE FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Nix moved to reject the ordinance, seconded by Mr. Park. All voted aye.

Mr. Sanderson offered the following ordinance: (Quail Hollow)

AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT OF CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS; ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 4, ZONING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY RESIDENTIAL (R-1 & R-2); DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FURTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Sanderson moved, seconded by Mr. Shelton to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on 2nd reading. All voted aye.

The following ordinance was on 3rd reading: (Pawn Brokers)

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 13-37 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, THE SAME DEALING WITH PAWN BROKERS

Mr. Hannah moved, seconded by Mr. Sanderson to adopt the ordinance. All voted aye. The ordinance was given the number 1846.

Ms. Henson, City Attorney, reported to the council that complaints from residents around the 210 Center Street trailer park would have to file a warrant for disorderly conduct before the city could take any action with the owner.

Mr. Warren Dupwe asked the council to consider the drainage problems found south of Matthews and west of Gee Street. He explained that the residents in the area are concerned that the Christian Creek is full of debris and drainage is poor.
