BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES BE ESTABLISHED FOR RETENTION OF FINANCIAL AND ACCOUNTING RECORDS OF THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT.

WHEREAS, A.C.A. 14-59-114 outlines maintenance and destruction of specific accounting records, the included retention list establishes a time period equal to or in excess of requirements for retaining these specific and other additional stored documents within the finance department.
Upon determining what records are to be destroyed, the Finance Department is to prepare documentation consisting of an affidavit stating what documents, period of time, and method of destruction, for submission to the council for approval and inclusion of such action in the minutes.
