A Public Hearing was held Monday October 17, 1983, at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall concerning the Arkansas Enterprise Zone Program.

CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - OCTOBER 17, 1983

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, October 17, 1983, at 7:30 p. m. Present were Mayor, City Clerk and all Aldermen. City Attorney was absent.

The minutes of October 3, 1983, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Park, seconded by Mr. Stricklin. All voted aye.

Mr. Hannah moved, seconded by Mr. Stricklin to table a request to place a mobile home at 216 Vine Street due to the lack of enough signatures on the required petition.

Mr. James Griner who is with Crowley’s Ridge Development Council, explained how the “Share A. Home” program in Jonesboro is working along with the new “Jonesboro Food Bank”.

Mr. Sanderson offered the following resolution: (Ar. Enterprise Zone Program)

RESOLUTION STATING JONESBORO, ARKANSAS’ INTEREST IN PARTICIPATION IN THE ARKANSAS ENTERPRISE ZONE PROGRAM AND DESIGNATION OF SUCH ENTERPRISE ZONES IN JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AND TO OTHERWISE PROVIDE WITH RESPECT THERETO

Mr. Shelton moved, seconded by Mr. Stricklin to approve the resolution. All voted aye except Mr. Hannah, Mr. Blevins, and Mr. Province who voted no. Motion Passed. The resolution was given the number 1983:17.

Mr. Stricklin offered the following ordinance: (Meth. Hospital property R-1 to C-5)

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE #954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A CHANGE IN ZONING BOUNDARIES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Park moved, seconded by Mr. Stricklin, to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on 2nd reading. All voted aye. Mr. Stricklin moved, seconded by Mr. Shelton, to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on 3rd reading. All voted aye. Mr. Stricklin moved, seconded by Mr. Park to adopt the ordinance with the emergency clause. All voted aye. The ordinance was given the number 1849.
