RESOLUTION TO HAVE RAILWAY COMPANIES IMPROVE HAZARDOUS OR UNSAFE RAILWAY CROSSING SO THEY ARE A WOODEN OR RAIL TYPE CROSSING
body
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
WHEREAS, the City Council of Jonesboro did on the 2nd day of October, 1967 pass a resolution requiring railroad companies whose tracts cross city streets within the City of Jonesboro to reconstruct all railroad crossings and required a “rail-type” crossing; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that the rail-type railway crossings are expensive and impractical and that the citizens of the City of Jonesboro and the railroad companies will be best served by requiring the railroad companies to reconstruct their crossings with a “wooden” type crossing in order that the crossings will not create hazards to vehicles traveling upon the city streets and crossing said railway crossings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that all railway crossings in the City of Jonesboro which are hazardous, unsafe and dangerous, should be constructed, altered or improved by the railway companies concerned and the reconstruction, alteration or improvements shall be of a “wooden” type crossing rather than a “rail” type crossing.
DATED THIS 18th day of March, 1968.
