RESOLUTION TO REFER ORDINANCE #2787 TO A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE

WHEREAS,                     the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, previously on the 6^th date of June , 1997 passed and ordinance levying a tax upon the gross receipts of restaurants, cafes, cafeterias, delicatessens, drive in restaurants, carry-out restaurants, catering and similar businesses, in the City of Jonesboro.

WHEREAS,                     there has been filed a referendum petition in proper form and manner, with the signatures having been certified as bearing the requisite amount, referring said ordinance for a vote of the people.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that Ordinance No. 2787, referenced above is hereby referred to a vote of the people at a special election to be held on the 4^th day of November, 1997.

PASSED AND ADOPTED this the 4^th day of August, 1997.
