A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF PROPERTY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A U.S. 63 FRONTAGE ROAD TO JOE MAC CAMPBELL PARK

WHEREAS, plans being developed to make U.S. 63 a limited access facility include an interchange at Dan Avenue (U.S. 63B); and
WHEREAS, the interchange project includes elimination of the U.S. 63 / Joe Mac Campbell Park access drive, and construction of a frontage road from Harry Drive to the park; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mayor and City Council that a portion of the park property, all of which was purchased exclusively with City funds, be conveyed to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department for frontage road right-of-way;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and are hereby authorized to execute appropriate documents to convey, to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, a strip of property, the specific length and width of which shall subsequently be determined by said Department, contiguous to U.S. 63 and north of the existing Joe Mac Campbell Park entry drive off U.S. 63, for construction of a frontage road.
SECTION 2. That it is hereby found and determined that no adverse impact to the park or to the environment will occur as a result of the construction of said U.S. 63 frontage road and no mitigation will be required.
