Minutes for the City Council meeting on March 19, 1970.

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in a special called meeting, Thursday afternoon, March 19, 1970, at 5:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Park, Dr. Bowers, Young, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Pardew, Bowers, Williams, Johnson and Knight.
Mr. Miron Williams was given his oath of office as City Treasurer by the City Clerk.
Dr. Bowers moved with Mr. Williams seconding the motion that the minutes of the March 16th meeting be corrected as to Dr. Bowers withdrawing an ordinance to rezone an area on Johnson Street.
After recommendation, reports and discussion on the streets and right of ways to the Arkansas Service Center, Mr. Stricklin moved with Mr. Knight seconding the motion that the project be accepted as presented, that condemnations proceedings for acquisition of right of way be authorized and that Barnett Construction Company’s bid (base) of $239,152.25 less $12,827.80 amounting to $226,324.45 be accepted. On calling the roll, all members voted aye and the motion carried.
There being no further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
