AN ORDINANCE TO PREVENT AND PROHIBIT PARKING ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF VINE AND EAST STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-68:2638 ON JULY 1, 1968)

BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
 
SECTION 1. That it shall be and is hereby declared to be unlawful to park a motor vehicle or any other vehicle of any kind or character upon the east side of Vine Street from the intersection of Vine Street and Huntington south to the intersection of Vine Street with the first alley south of Huntington Avenue and intersecting Vine Street.
 
SECTION 2. That it shall be and is hereby declared to be unlawful to park a motor vehicle or any other vehicle of any kind or character upon the east side of East Street from the intersection of East Street and Cate Avenue south to the intersection of East Street and Monroe Avenue.
 
SECTION 3. The Chief of Police or some person designated by him shall place and locate signs upon which shall be written "No Parking" at the above described places and it shall be unlawful for any person to tear down or remove said signs or mutilate same without authority from the Chief of Police and by him only when acting under the instruction of the City Council.
 
SECTION 4. Violation of this ordinance shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed fifteen ($15) dollars for each offense.
 
SECTION 5. And it being found that the parts of the streets hereinabove referred to are extremely narrow and that parking in the aforementioned locations endangers the lives and property of the citizens of this municipality and this ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety an emergency is declared to exist and the same shall be in full force and effect immediately after its passage.
