AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A CERTAIN PART OF COBB STREET AS A NO PARKING AREA AND DESIGNATING A CERTAIN PART OF HIGHLAND DRIVE AS A NO PARKING AREA AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: From and after passage and adoption of this ordinance, part of Cobb Avenue and part of Highland Drive as set forth herein shall be designated as a “No Parking” area, to-wit:

 

(a) No Parking on the West side of Cobb Street from East Oak, South on East Oak to Cherry.

(b) No Parking on either side of Highland Drive from Sherwood Street to Main Street.

 

Section 2: The Chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described streets at the proper places, appropriate signs reading “No Parking” and it is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to tear down or mutilate such sign or to park vehicles in this no parking area.

 

Section 3: Every person convicted of a violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $25.00.

 

Section 4: All ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 

Section 5: It is found and declared by the City Council that the increasing amount of traffic congestion and the lack of traffic control devices have caused danger to life and property, and that this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety and emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 2nd day of September, 1975.
