AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 19 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, CONCERNING CONNECTIONS TO CITY SEWER SYSTEM

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is hereby amended by adding a section to be numbered 19-4 which section shall read as follows:
Section 19-4 SAME - DUPLICATE CONNECTIONS PROHIDITED
“Each dwelling, house or building shall have its own service lateral running to the mains of City Water & Light Plant’s sanitary sewerage system and two or more houses, dwellings or buildings shall not be connected to the main by the same lateral.”
Section 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that confusion and delays have resulted from questions concerning the right to connect more than one building to lateral sewer system as to which present ordinances are silent and, therefore, this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
