Metropolitan Area Planning Commission Public Hearing Minutes

March 30, 1956

body

The City Planning Commission of Jonesboro, Arkansas, met in public hearing on March 30, 1956, at 7:30 P.M. in the City Council Chamber of the Jonesboro City Hall.

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Planning Commissioners Jesse Banks, Charles Frierson, A.L. Hendrix, Mrs. Clifford Hill, Minor Markle, Elmer Stuck, and Neal Thayer.

OTHERS PRESENT:  Aldermen Copeland, Fritz, Hart, Powell, and Mayor H.H. Sanderson and three citizens.

Chairman stated that this meeting had been called pursuant to a notice given by publication on March 14th and March 21st, 1956, in the Jonesboro Sun.  A certified copy of the notice was read by Chairman Frierson.

Since the notice was in error and had read 7:30 A.M., on March 30, 1956, it was noted in the minutes that the meeting had been adjourned at 7:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. with no objections.

Chairman Frierson read the proposed ordinance and called for comments and discussion, section by section.  Also, the zoning map, attached to and made a par of the ordinance, was discussed in detail in each of the various boundaries.

After discussion and with agreement of all present, moved by A.L. Hendrix, seconded by Minor Markle, and carried, that the proposed ordinance regulating land use, population density and area requirements of real property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and for other purposes, with amendments shown on the attached plat or map, affecting only the industrial area, be submitted to the City Council with approval of the Jonesboro Planning Commission.

There being no further business to be conducted by the Planning Commission in public hearing, meeting adjourned.
