AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 15-106 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, PROVIDING FOR PARKING METER ZONES AND TIME LIMITS DESIGNATED

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: Section 15-106, Subsection (b), is hereby amended by the addition of sub-paragraph (11), which shall read as follows:
(11) The West side of East Street between Monroe Avenue and the City Parking Lot.
Section 2: Section 15-106 is further amended by the addition of Subsection (g), which shall be as follows:
(g) Zone No.7 and Time Limit. Parking or standing a vehicle in a designated parking space in parking meter zone No.7 shall be lawful for 12 minutes upon deposit of a one cent coin, 12 minute limit:
(1) The East side of East Street, between Monroe Avenue and the North property line of the Post Office site; provided, there may be established in this area a drive-up depository zone, so designated either by signs or curb markings, where it shall be unlawful to park, except the purpose of depositing mail in the receptacles provided near the curb.
Section 3: It is hereby determined by the City Council that the relocation of the Post Office will create traffic congestion on East Street unless immediate steps are taken to meter and zone that area, and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
