METROPOLITAN AREA PLANNING COMMISSION
JUNE 13, 1995

MEMBERS PRESENT: Coleman, Damron, Finley, Beadles, Shaw and Phillips

MEMBERS ABSENT: Little, McCracken and Pitts

Minutes of the May 9, 1995 meeting were approved as submitted.

#1 SU95-5 Nellie Jackson requested approval of placement of a mobile home at 1622 S. Kathleen Street, between Morton and Mitchell Streets.

Item WITHDRAWN.

#2 SU95-6 Karen Gambill requested approval of placement of a mobile home on the east side of Pinehill Lane, north of Craighead Forest Road.

Mr. Damron moved to approve the request, seconded by Dr. Beadles. Three voted aye, two no, REQUEST APPROVED.

#3 SU95-7 Kenny and Valerie Parish requested approval of placement of mobile home at 3317 Moore Road.

Ms. Finley made a motion to approve the request seconded by Ms. Shaw. Five voted aye, 0 no, REQUEST APPROVED.

#4 SU95-8 Rickie and Dixie White requested approval of placement of a mobile home on the north side of Curtis Road, east of Walters Road.

Item TABLED.

#5 RZ95-19 W. B. Lacy, III requested approval of rezoning from R-1 to C-3 for 17.72 acres located on the west side of Hwy. 63 Bypass, north of Strawfloor Drive and extending north of W. Washington Avenue.

There was much discussion about rezoning a strip of land approximately 200' wide and one half mile long along a controlled access road. It was stated that direct access to the 63 Bypass would be limited.

A street would probably have to be built on site to provide access to any development. Commissioners stated they felt that the rezoning should go to a greater depth than proposed. It was questioned if the property was to be used for billboards. Mr. Lacy state that he had no plans for this type of use.

Ms. Shaw stated that she felt commercial zoning would be appropriate in this area but would need a greater depth than shown. Ms. Shaw moved to approve the request a...
