RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE CITY OF JONESBORO 2007 ANNUAL BUDGET BY INCREASING THE STEP/SALARY FOR THE CITY ATTORNEY, CITY CLERK, DIRECTOR OF FINANCE, CHIEF OF POLICE, FIRE CHIEF AND PLANNING DIRECTOR.

WHEREAS, the City Council requested a salary study by the Department of Human Resources for the above selected positions; and
WHEREAS, the study was conducted by Suzanne Hackney and the above positions were all below the average salary as a result of the study.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESORO, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: The 2007 annual budget of the City of Jonesboro is amended by the increase of the City Attorney’s annual salary to $88,875.
SECTION TWO: The 2007 annual budget of the City of Jonesboro is amended by the increase of the City Clerk’s annual salary to $68,000.
SECTION THREE: The 2007 annual budget of the City of Jonesboro is amended by the increase of the Financial Director’s annual salary to Grade 25, Step 8, $78,243.09.
SECTION FOUR: The 2007 annual budget of the City of Jonesboro is amended by the increase of the Chief of Police’s annual salary to Grade 25, Step 9, $80,199.07.
SECTION FIVE: The 2007 annual budget of the City of Jonesboro is amended by the increase of the Fire Chief’s annual salary to Grade 25, Step 9, $80,199.07.
SECTION SIX: The 2007 annual budget of the City of Jonesboro is amended by the increase of the Planning Director’s annual salary to Grade 24, Step 11, $76,334.73.
SECTION SEVEN: The funding for the increased salary and benefits shall be from existing Departmental 2007 budget appropriations.
SECTION EIGHT: For the financial and operational continuity of the City of Jonesboro it is hereby found and declared that an emergency exists and that this ordinance shall take effect after its passage and approval retroactive to 4/1/07.
