RESOLUTION TO ADOPT WORK CYCLE PERIOD IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE FAIR LABOR STANDARD ACT

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, relying upon recent decisions of the United States Supreme Court has reversed its earlier policy and presently considers local government employees as subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act respecting minimum wage and overtime pay requirements, and

WHEREAS, the Fair Labor Standards Act establishes maximum work hours for local government employees.

THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that work cycle periods in compliance with the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, are hereby adopted effective 5:00 P.M., Friday July 15, 1985.
