AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 1053, PROVIDING FOR INCREASE IN FARES CHARGED BY TAXI CAB COMPANIES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: Ordinance No. 1053 (amending Ordinance No. 809) is hereby amended by increasing the rate schedules set out in Section 2 thereof by ten cents (.10¢) each, excepting subsection five (5) thereof, which shall not be changed.

Section 2: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council that the taxi companies within the City, being a desirable and necessary service for the public, in order to stay in business, must have an increase in rates, and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
