AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AN ANNUAL LICENSE FEE UPON EACH BICYCLE IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-74:2373 ON OCTOBER 22, 1974)

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Section 1. That any person, firm or corporation who shall operate a bicycle within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro shall on the 1st day of January, 1955, and each year thereafter, pay an annual license fee in the sum of fifty cents ($0.50).

Section 2. The license paying period shall be the same period as for other vehicle license, and shall be paid to the City Collector of the City of Jonesboro.

Section 3. The application for a license shall contain the following information to be supplied upon proper forms furnished by the City: the name, age and address of applicant; the make, model and serial number of the bicycle.

Section 4. Any person, firm or corporation who shall proceed to operate any bicycle within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro without first obtaining and paying for the license provided herein shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not to exceed twenty-five dollars ($25.00).

Section 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed and the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed to be separable, so that, if any portion thereof be invalid and such invalid portions may be severed from the remaining portions, such remaining portions shall continue in full force.

Section 6. Whereas, it being necessary for proper police protection and welfare that the City of Jonesboro secure and have on file all necessary information on each bicycle, and whereas, the City is in need of sufficient funds to maintain such police file as obtained from the license charge herein; and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, an emergency is declared to ex...
