AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE CHAPTER SIX OF THE JONESBORO CODE OF ORDINANCES PROVIDING THAT ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS ASSUME THE PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANIMALS; AMENDING THE AGE FOR DOGS BEING KEPT OVER FIVE, AMENDING THE DATE WITHIN WHICH A VACCINATION IS REQUIRED FOR ANIMALS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES:

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas and the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances reflecting the primary responsibility for animals being within the purview of the animal control unit and;

 

WHEREAS, there is a need to amend the provisions dealing with the age of animals, provisions calculating the number for possession and within which vaccination should be required;

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED, by the Jonesboro City Council that Section Number 6.04.06 Diseased Animals be amended as follows:

 

(A)  Delete the reference to "Chief of Police" in Sub-Paragraphs A and Sub-Paragraph B and substitute the phrase "Animal Control Director".

 

(B)  That Section 6.08.03 is hereby amended as follows:  Delete the reference to "over six months old" and substitute "over three months of age".

 

(C)  That Section 6.08.04 is hereby amended as follows: Reference "from two months of age" be deleted and substituted with the phrase "from three months of age".

 

(D)  The rest and remainder of said Ordinance except as amended herein shall remain in full force and effect.

 

(E)  That this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of public peace, well being and welfare shall take effect three (3) months from and after its passage and approval.
