PUBLIC HEARING - The Jonesboro City Council conducted a Public Hearing on February 21, 1983, at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of hearing those interested in a grant application by Craighead County and the Jonesboro softball association for the development of a softball complex south of Jonesboro near the Children’s Colony.

Judge Roy C. Bearden called the meeting to order and at that time, he called on Mr. Mike Cameron to explain what the grant application involved at the park. He explained that the money would go for lighting, paved roads, parking, concession stand, bathroom facilities, and fencing.

At this time, Ms. Donna Rogers, Secretary-treasurer spoke to the estimated cost of the lighting at the park. She explained that the grant money would be used in the most economical way possible. She explained that the money that has already been spent at the park was used on the grounds and partial fencing but more money was needed to complete the project.

At the meeting were 49 Citizens of Craighead County who represented the 81 adult softball teams in Craighead County.

PUBLIC HEARING - The Jonesboro City Council conducted a Public Hearing on February 21, 1983, at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of hearing those interested in a grant application by the City of Jonesboro for the continued development of Craighead Forest Park.

Mayor Neil Stallings called the meeting to order and at that time, he called on Mr. Mike Cameron, City Engineer, to explain to the 47 citizens who attended the hearing what the priorities were at the park and how the money from the grant is to be used. He explained that most all of the money will be used to provide city water to the site along with road repairs and construction. Also, money is needed to complete 2 softball fields, build public shelters, public restrooms, and complete a walking trail through the park.
