AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 1554, THE SAME ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING DUTIES OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE RELATIVE TO TRAFFIC CONTROL AND SAFETY IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section One: Ordinance No. 1554 in its entirety is hereby repealed.

 

Section Two: It is found and declared by the City Council that the placement by the Chief of Police or his designated agent of traffic control and traffic safety devices may be an unlawful delegation of legislative authority and that the placement of such traffic control devices should be contained in an ordinance so that the public shall have knowledge of the placement of such traffic control devices. Therefore, this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of July, 1977.
