A RESOLUTION RENAMING A PORTION OF NESTLE ROAD BACK TO “ROGERS CHAPEL ROAD”

WHEREAS, in 1908 Mr. D. T. Rogers, a professor at Agriculture & Mechanical College, now known as Arkansas State University donated two acres of land for a school (Special School District No. 63) which was named “Rogers School”; and

WHEREAS, in 1940 the Church of the Nazarene occupied Rogers School and Mr. Rogers donated acreage for the construction for the new church which is still active today; and

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2003:37 was adopted changing Rogers Chapel Road to Nestle Road on July 7th, 2003; and

WHEREAS, the local residents are requesting that the portion of Nestle Road, north 5/10 of a mile to the county line, off Highway 18 East (Highland Drive) be renamed “Rogers Chapel Road”.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:

The City of Jonesboro hereby dedicates the portion of road known as Nestle Road, north 5/10 of a mile to the county line, off Highway 18 East (Highland Drive), as “Rogers Chapel Road”.

PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 19th Day of December, 2005.
