Minutes for the City Council meeting on February 2, 1959

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark. met in regular session at City Hall, Monday night, Feb. 2, 1959, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Att., City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Keister, Johnson, Snow, Williams, Griffin, Brickell, Field, Smith, Heern, Copeland, Parks and Ebbert.
The following Resolution was offered and Mr. Ebbert made the motion, seconded by Mr. Williams, that it be adopted. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NAMING JUDGES FOR THE CITY WATER AND LIGHT ELECTION ON FEBRUARY 19, 1959
The resolution was given the number 1959:01.
Mr. Field made the motion, seconded by Mr. Williams, that the City purchases 2 scarrafier teeth for the bull dozer. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Parks made the motion, seconded by Mr. Smith, that the City buy a GMC pickup for the Street Foreman from Horton Pontiac Co. at the lowest bid of $1,598.00 Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Heern made the motion, seconded by Mr. Brickell, that on the recommendation of the Craighead Forest Commission that the following be appointed to their board for a five year term: Jack Barrett and Lee Linzay. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
The following motion was made by Mr. Ebbert and seconded by Mr. Smith: that Council accept the plumber’ recommendation that on a rotation basis, each plumber contractor serve as Plumbing Inspector and that Shorty Clark be appointed to serve from Feb. 2, 1959 through Feb. 16, 1959; Athel Williams to serve from Feb. 17, 1959 through March 2, 1959. Permits to be paid to and issued by the Collector. Council expresses their appreciation to Buddy Meador for his temporary services as Inspector. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
