RESOLUTION TO ENDORSE THE CITY IN OBTAINING A MODIFICATION TO THE CURRENT LANDFILL PERMIT

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro operates the only class IV landfill within the Craighead County Solid Waste Management District; and
WHEREAS, the initial steps are in progress to request a modification to the current permit due to the limited life of the current class IV landfill; and
WHEREAS, the Regional Solid Waste Management District has issued a certificate of need for a modification to the present landfill as well as a certificate of need for a new landfill in accordance with Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology Regulation No.22 of 1995.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved, by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, as a governing body, endorses the City's efforts in obtaining a modification to its current landfill permit.
This Resolution shall take full effect immediately upon its passage and approval.
