AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF BRIDGE PANELS AND CONCRETE PILINGS FOR REPLACEMENT OF ONE (1) FIVE-SPAN BRIDGE IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS. THE BRIDGE LOCATION IS INGLES ROAD, OVER HIGGINBOTTOM CREEK.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the Jonesboro Street Department of the City of Jonesboro needs to purchase bridge panels and concrete pilings.
SECTION 2: That said bridge panels can be obtained from Choctaw, Inc, Little Rock, Arkansas, at a cost of $65,000.00 (plus tax) and concrete pilings from CPI Concrete Products, Memphis, Tennessee, at a cost of $9,000.00 (plus tax), purchased from Craighead County bid.
SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described services for the price set forth in Section 2 above.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire these services an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
