AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF YOUNG ROAD TO STADIUM BOULEVARD AND TO ERECT APPROPRIATE SIGNS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: The City Council finds and declares that Arkansas State University is a great asset to the City of Jonesboro, to northeast Arkansas and the State of Arkansas and that in order to recognize the contributions which have been made by Arkansas State University, the name of Young Road shall be changed to Stadium Boulevard.
Section 2: The City Engineer or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above-described street at the proper places appropriate signs designating that street as Stadium Boulevard and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate such signs.
Section 3: Every person, firm or corporation convicted of tearing down, removing or mutilating such signs established by this ordinance shall be purchased by a fine of not more than $50.00.
Section 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that Arkansas State University has made significant contributions to this community and that in order to recognize the contributions made by Arkansas State University, the City of Jonesboro and the City Council does hereby change the name of Young Road to Stadium Boulevard and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
