RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ACCEPT THE PROPERTY DONATED BY THE CRUSE FAMILY TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO

WHEREAS, Michael L. and Susan Cruse, Bradford and Laura Hanna Cruse, and Mathew Shane Saferite and Elizabeth Cruse Saferite desire to donate and the City of Jonesboro wishes to accept the following described property located in the R. L. Hayes 2nd Addition to the City of Jonesboro, to wit:
All of Block Sixteen (16), Block Seventeen (17) less and except a tract described as follows:  Begin at a point on the West side of Block 17 aforesaid which is due East from the Northeast Corner of Lot 2, Block 10, R. L. Hayes 2nd Addition, thence run East 420.0 feet, thence run South 210.0 feet, thence run West 420.0 feet, thence run North 210.0 feet along the West line of said Block 17 to the point of beginning proper containing approximately 2.0 acres more or less, all of Block Eighteen (18), all of Block Nineteen (19).  The described property contains 15.31 acres more or less.  
 
 WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro agrees that said property will be designated as Bert Cruse Park and will be used as a park for city recreational use in perpetuity;
WHEREAS, a portion of said park will be designated for a community garden and shall be available to area residents so long as it is their desire to use it as such;
WHEREAS, the City agrees to pay any cost associated with the filing of the deed or the transfer of the title;
 
WHEREAS, the City agrees to provide a formal sign or plaque on the property to permanently designate it as Bert Cruse Park and to provide tribute to Bert Cruse and the Cruse Family.
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to accept the deed from the Cruse Family which is attached hereto.  
 
2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval.
