ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NUMBER 2044 AND TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.  1787, SECTIONS 2 AND 3, TO DESIGNATE THE POLICE OFFICERS’ TRAINING FUND TO BE FUNDED BY $5.00 OF EACH FINE ASSESSED IN MUNICIPAL COURT AS OPPOSED TO BEING FUNDED BY COURT COSTS.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: Ordinance No. 2044, an Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 1787, Sections 2 and 3, is hereby deleted in its entirety.

 

SECTION 2: Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1787, regarding the additional charge collected by the Municipal Court Clerk to be contributed to the Police Officers’ Training Fund, is hereby amended to read:

 

That in order to provide for such training, $5.00 will be allocated from each fine collected in Municipal Court.

 

SECTION 3: Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1787 regarding the additional charge collected by the Municipal Court Clerk to be contributed to the Police Officers Training Fund, is hereby amended to read:

 

The Municipal Court Clerk shall place the $5.00 of each fine collected in Municipal Court into the General Revenue Fund of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to be used only for educational purposes, training and equipment of the Jonesboro Police Department.

 

SECTION 4: Therefore, an emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of March, 1992.
