A RESOLUTION BY THE JONESBORO CITY COUNCIL TO APPROPRIATE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT FUNDS AND PARTNER WITH THE ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION COMMISSION FOR OUTDOOR AQUATICS ENHANCEMENTS AT THE JONESBORO SPORTS COMPLEX

WHEREAS the City of Jonesboro desires to allocate $3,200,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to enhance the outdoor aquatics park offerings at the planned Sports Complex facility on Race Street; and
WHEREAS, public input sessions from a variety of data gathering efforts have consistently reflected that residents place a high priority on outdoor water recreation accommodations; and
WHEREAS, the requested additional funding will greatly increase water features including slide, play and splash equipment in the outdoor water area and will complement the indoor competition and recreational pool facility; and
WHEREAS the proposed outdoor and indoor aquatics offerings will be mutually beneficial to Jonesboro residents and the success of the Sports Complex’s efforts to recruit athletic events; and
WHEREAS outdoor recreation is an allowable ARPA expenditure.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT
SECTION 1: The City Council authorizes the Mayor to partner with the A&P Commission and to allocate $3,200,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funding specifically dedicated to enhancing the outdoor aquatics park offerings at the Jonesboro Sports Complex.
SECTION 2: Usage of funding will follow existing City of Jonesboro Finance Department oversite typical of all ongoing Advertising and Promotion transactions.
