CITY COUNTIL MINUTES MAY 19, 1980

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday May 19, 1980, at 7:30 p.m. Present: Mayor, City Attorney, Park, Sanderson, Hinson, Shelton, Bridger, Minx, Hannah, Stricklin, Province, Mays and Haggenmacher. Absent: City Clerk and Ms. Haigler.

The minutes of May 5, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Hannah, seconded by Mr. Park.

The following ordinance was on 3rd reading:

AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE AND ABANDON AN ALLEY LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

Mr. Haggenmacher moved that the ordinance be tabled, seconded by Mr. Bridger. Voting aye: Sanderson, Bridger, Minx, Hannah, Stricklin, Province Mays and Haggenmacher. Voting nay, Park, Hinson, Shelton and Bridger. Motion passed.

The following ordinance was on 3rd reading:

AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE ELECTION OF ALDERMEN BY WARDS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Sanderson moved that the ordinance be tabled. Motion failed for lack of second. Mr. Haggenmacher then moved for the adoption of the ordinance with the emergency clause, second by Mr. Mays. Voting aye, Haggenmacher and Mays. Voting nay: Park, Sanderson, Hinson, Shelton, Bridger, Minx, Hannah, Stricklin and Province. Motion failed.

Mr. Stricklin offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE CERTAIN TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Cameron recommended to council that all bids on the side loader, which were reviewed on May 5, be rejected and the truck and compaction units be bid separately. Mr. Bridger so moved, motion duly seconded and all council voted aye.

Mr. Sanderson offered the following resolution:

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AMENDING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF A HOUSING REHABILITATION GRANT PROGRAM
