The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, met in regular session on the above named date at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Berry, Booker, Stricklin, Snow, Stephens, Copeland, Hendrix, Rogers, Johnson and Taylor.

Mr. Stricklin offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE AND ABANDON AN ALLEY OF MONTAGUE’S SUBDIVISION OF BLOCK 42 OF KNIGHT’S SECOND ADDITION TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

Mr. Berry made the motion that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on its second reading. Mr. Johnson seconded the motion, roll called. All aye. Mr. Berry then made the motion, seconded by Mr. Booker, that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be place on the third reading. Roll called. All aye. Mr. Berry made the motion, seconded by Mr. Taylor, that the ordinance be adopted as read. Roll called. All aye. The ordinance was given the number 870.

Mr. Booker made the motion, seconded by Mr. Berry, that the Mississippi Valley Company be granted a permit to operate an insurance company on the corner of Oak and South Main. Roll called. All aye. Permit granted.

Mr. Stricklin made the motion, seconded by Mr. Booker, that the Jonesboro Industries, Inc. be granted a permit to build a warehouse in the Chapman and Dewey Addition. Roll called. All aye.

Mr. Snow made the motion, seconded by Mr. Booker, that Lamberth and Smallman be granted a permit to build an ice cream stand on the corner of Washington and Bridge subject to the approval of the Building Committee. Roll called. All aye.

Mr. Hendrix made the motion, seconded by Mr. Booker, that C.C. Howell be granted a permit to operate a service station on the corner of Jackson and Union. Roll called. All aye.
