The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met in executive session with the following present:
A.E. Scott Jr. (Chairman)
Clay Kenward (Secretary)
Marion Ulmer
Bud Melton
Glenn Lane
Frank Falls
The question of rezoning from R-3 to C-3 two pieces of property located on the southwest and southeast corners of Highway #18 and Parkside Drive was discussed as follows:
1. This is generally a residential area.
2. There is a nonconforming commercial business to the east.
3. Commercial installations on these corners would increase traffic on a residential street.
4. This constitutes spot zoning.
Motion was made by Falls and seconded by Melton to refuse rezoning since this would be a form of spot zoning. Motion was passed when all commissioners voted approval of the motion.
