A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE POLICE CHIEF AND FIRE CHIEF OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, TO APPLY FOR FEDERAL GRANT FUNDING RELATED TO HOMELAND SECURITY, THE ECONOMIC STIMULUS AND RECOVERY ACT AND OTHER FEDERAL GRANTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has opportunity for funding through various federal programs, and

 

WHEREAS, the window of opportunity for application for such funds may be of such short duration that approval by the governing body of the City of Jonesboro, may not be practical under normal circumstances and procedures, and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF JONESBORO, THAT:

 

The Police Chief and the Fire Chief of the City of Jonesboro have the authority to apply for federal funding as is necessary and reasonable to make application for restricted federal grant funds so long as such is approved by the Mayor and the City of Jonesboro before application for such funds are submitted.

 

The City of Jonesboro City Council shall be informed of such applications for federal funds as soon as is practical or at the next regular session of the City Council, whichever comes first.

 

The City of Jonesboro may reject such federal grants as they deem necessary after the submission of such grant applications if it is found that the grants is not in the best interest of the City and the citizens of Jonesboro.
