RESOLUTION TO LEASE PART OF THE HUNTINGTON BUILDING TO ST. BERNARD’S HEALTH CARE TO OPERATE THE SENIOR LIFE CENTER (NOTE: THIS CONTRACT WAS EXTENDED WITH RES-05:494 ON MARCH 1, 2005; RES-06:274 ON JULY 18, 2006)

Whereas, the City of Jonesboro owns the facility located at 900 West Monroe, commonly referred to as the “Huntington Building”; and

Whereas, the City of Jonesboro recognizes the efforts of St. Bernards Health Care to operate Senior Life Centers by contract through the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging for a two-year term commencing on July 1, 2002, with an option for a third year; and

Whereas, St. Bernards wishes to utilize space in the Huntington Building as the hub of their senior center activity.

Now therefore be it resolved by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

1. The City Council agrees to the terms and conditions of the agreement as outlined herein.
2. St. Bernards may utilize the west side of the complex, including the former family life center, kitchen, choir room, parlor, classrooms and office spaces.
3. St. Bernards shall be responsible for payment of utilities, (including electricity, water and gas) as well as general interior maintenance of the space for as long as they operate a Senior Life Center on the site. St. Bernards will, at their expense, arrange for utilities in the space to be independently metered, or take alternative measures acceptable to the City of Jonesboro.
4. St. Bernards will make improvements to the facility, including the addition of a commercial food steamer chest in the kitchen. The steamer, as well as any fixed improvements made to the building, will remain the property of the City of Jonesboro upon expiration of this lease.
5. St. Bernards agrees to carry general liability insurance on their activities in the space.
6. St. Bernards Senior Life Center will occupy the building during normal business hours. The kitchen and large room will be available for special events after...
