Public Hearing - 7:10 p.m. - A public hearing was held to discuss vacating and abandoning a ten foot alley located between Poplar Avenue and Strawn Avenue.

Public Hearing - 7:20 p.m. - A public hearing was held regarding the issuance of Industrial Bonds to the Busch Agricultural Resources Inc.

City Council Minutes - October 5, 1992

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Present were the Mayor, City Clerk, and all the Aldermen except for Mr. Evans who was unable to attend because of illness.

The minutes of September 21, 1992, were approved as mailed by motion of Mr. Stricklin, seconded by Mr. Sanderson. All voted aye.

Detective David Allen, Sr. Vice President of the Arkansas Police Benevolent Association, addressed Council regarding pay raises, improved health insurance, a better sick leave plan, Employee Relations Committee and educational benefits for Police Personnel. These same issues were discussed at the Police committee meeting held the Friday before. Alderman Hannah, Chairman of the Police Committee, stated the issues would be taken under advisement individually by the members of the Police Committee and would make recommendations to the Council at a later date.

Alderman Wise, who owns an ambulance service in Jonesboro, stated he had responded to a call regarding a gun-shot at the 1200 block of Warner Street. Mr. Wise stated even though the response time of the police officers was alright, they really need more backup.

Mr. Tracy Morehead, representative of the Arkansas State Highway & Transportation Department, presented Mayor Brodell the “70% Plus Award” signifying that Jonesboro had 85% of its citizens wearing seat belts.

The following ordinance was on the third reading:

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE UNDER THE MUNICIPALITIES AND COUNTIES INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT REVENUE BOND LAW, ACTS 1960.
