The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark., met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, October 7, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Turner, Bowers, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Pardew, Copeland, Young, Johnson and Knight. Absent: Ledbetter.

Mr. Knight offered the following resolution:

RESOLUTION TO ISSUE CAPITAL NOTES FOR THE CONSTRUCTING, WIDENING, PAVING AND DRAINAGE FOR THE ACCESS ROAD LOCATED AT THE JONESBORO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT

Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the resolution be adopted. All members present voted aye and the motion was carried. The resolution was given the number 1968:22.

The following ordinance was on its third and final reading:

AN ORDINANCE REMOVING PARKING METER ON WEST WASHINGTON AVENUE AND UNION STREET AND PROVIDING FOR LOADING ZONE AREA

Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Turner seconding the motion that the ordinance be adopted. All present voted aye and the motion carried. The vote was unanimous to adopt the emergency clause. The ordinance was given the number 1209.

Mr. Johnson offered the following ordinance for its first reading

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 5-27 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO PROVIDING FOR INSPECTION OF STRUCTURE TO BE MOVED AND INSPECTION OF PROPERTY WHERE STRUCTURE WILL BE LOCATED

Mr. Johnson moved with Mr. Knight seconding the motion that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be placed on the second reading. On calling the roll, all present voted aye and the motion carried.

Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the Mayor ask the Real Estate Committee to look into the purchase of necessary right-of-way for the completion of traffic loop according to the 1980 plan. All voted aye and the motion was carried.
