A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS ACCEPTING BID AND APPROVING THE CONTRACT FOR SEWER IMPROVEMENTS FROM R. & R. CONSTRUCTION UNDER THE CDBG PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro advertised and received bids for the construction of Sewer Improvements Daybreak - Magnolia on July 12, 2006 for the CDBG Program; and
WHEREAS, the low bid of $178,596.00 was submitted by R. & R. Construction, which was checked by Miller - Newell Engineers Inc.; and
WHEREAS, $160,480.50 of the funds for the project will come from the Community Development Block Grant Budget Daybreak - Magnolia Sewer Improvement Projects, as previously approved by the City Council and the Department of Housing & Urban Development, the remaining $18,115.50 from City Water & Light;
WHEREAS, the Finance and Grants Committee recommended on August 17, 2006, approval of awarding a contract to the low bidder for a contract of $178,596.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro accepts the low bid of $178,596.00 from R. & R. Construction for construction of sewer improvements Daybreak. - Magnolia.
SECTION 2: That the Mayor, Douglas Formon and City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
