RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AUTHORIZING FILING OF AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF ARKANSAS FOR AN ARKANSAS COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas has previously submitted an application for multi-year funding commitment for a Comprehensive Small Cities Program and previously had received approval of the Department of Housing and Urban Development for such multi-year funding; and
WHEREAS, it is timely for the City to submit its application for funding of the Third Incremental Year of the Program as not administered by the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is applying to the State of Arkansas for an Arkansas Community and Economic Development Grant; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that certain conditions be met as part of the application requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has conducted at least one public hearing as part of the Application process to receive and consider citizen comments on community needs and proposed activities.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
(1) That the application for ACEDP assistance requesting a program grant in the amount of $467,707, as described on the application forms dated July 18, 1983, are hereby approved.
(2) That Neil J. Stallings, the Mayor is authorized to submit this application to the State of Arkansas, on behalf of the City of Jonesboro to undertake this project if funded.
(3) That this Resolution shall take effect immediately.
