AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.1827 DEALING WITH THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

BE IT ORDAINED by the city council of the City or Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That Ordinance No.1827 of the Code of ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is hereby amended to read as follows: (#1827 regarding the Southern Bldg. Code Board or Adjustments and Appeals)
Section 2: That the above ordinance is hereby amended to increase the membership of the Board of Adjustments and Appeals from (5) to seven (7).
Section 3: That the terms of office of the additional members of the Board of Adjustment and Appeals shall be:
One additional member whose term, when first appointed shall be two (2) years,
one additional member whose term, when first appointed shall be one (l) year.
Section 4: That the above ordinance is hereby amended to include within the jurisdiction and scope of review of the above Board be hereby amended to include review of appeals from decisions of the Electrical Inspector and Plumbing Inspection as well as the Building Inspector of the City of Jonesboro.
Section 5: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that the above amendments to Ordinance No.1827 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas are necessary in order to insure effective and efficient discharge of the duties of the Board of Adjustment and Appeals. Therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance is necessary for the public peace, health and safety of the citizens of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
