RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE POLICY AND PROCEDURE MANUAL TO REFLECT POSITION CHANGES IN THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro realizes there is an immediate need to update the Policy and Procedure Manuals utilized by the City of Jonesboro's Civil Service Commission, Police Department and Fire Department to reflect the recent position changes within the respective departments and the removal of the Police Department from under Civil Service Commission rules and regulations:
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO:
SECTION 1: That the titles of "Chief of Police" and "Fire Chief” or “Chief of the Fire Department" be amended to read, "Director of Public Safety," in the Jonesboro Police Department Policy Manual and the Jonesboro Fire Department's Rules and Regulation Manual.
SECTION 2: That any reference of the Police Department should be removed from the City of Jonesboro's Civil Service Commission Manual and the titles of "Fire Chief” or “Chief of the Fire Department" in the amended Civil Service Commission Manual be amended to read, "Director of Public Safety."
