AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 6.08.11, CLAIMING IMPOUNDED ANIMALS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: Section 6.08.11 - Claiming Impounded Animals shall be deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:

 

Any person owning, possessing, or keeping an animal which has been allowed to run at large and which has been impounded by retrieve such animal from the city pound by payment of a fee of  a  fee  of  Thirty-Five Dollars ($35.00),  which  fee  shall  be assessed  for the purpose of  vaccination of  impounded animal prior  to their  retrieval and reclamation  by owners.  The cost for reclamation shall increase to Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for the second (2nd) offence and the third (3rd) offense the penalty shall be One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) and the animal control officer shall issue a citation to Jonesboro Municipal Court. An additional charge of Ten Dollars ($10.00) per day shall be levied for each animal held over Twenty-Four (24)   hours.   The reclamation of two (2) or more animals by the same owner or household shall constitute separate charges.  (Ordinance No.  2125,   Sec. 1)

 

SECTION 2: It is further found that an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect from and after its approval.
