AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT DATED JULY 14, 1970; ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 4; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, a petition for the annexation of certain lands to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, hereinafter described, was duly filed in the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, Western District, on June 10, 1970; and
WHEREAS, said petition for the annexation of said lands was signed by a majority of the real estate owners owning a majority of the acreage to be annexed to the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, an order setting a hearing on said petition was entered, notice was duly published of said hearing and hearing was duly had upon said petition in the County Court on July 14, 1970, at which hearing it was duly found and declared by the court that said petition for annexation was right and proper and that said lands hereinafter described should be annexed to the City of Jonesboro, whereupon, an order of annexation was made and entered; and
WHEREAS, thirty days have expired since the order of annexation dated July 14, 1970,
And no proceedings to prevent said annexation have been filed in the Circuit Court for the Western District of Craighead County, Arkansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: The territory and lands annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, by order of the county court of Craighead County, Arkansas, Western District, dated July 14, 1970, be and they are hereby accepted by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and said territory hereinafter described, shall hereafter be deemed and taken to be part and parcel of the limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and inhabitants within the new annexation shall have and enjoy all the rights and privileges of the inhabitants within the original limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
