RESOLUTION TO VACATE AND ABANDON AN ALLEY RUNNING FROM LONG STREET THROUGH LOTS 19 TRHOUGH LOT 40 IN THE COX ADDITION AND AN ALLEY RUNNING FROM HENRY STREET TO IRBY STREET

WHEREAS, the property owners abutting upon certain alleys hereinafter described have filed with the City Council their petition requesting that the City enter into an agreement to close and abandon said alleys under authority of Ark. Stats. Anno. ยง19-3817, which alleys are described as follows:
An alley 15 feet in width running from Long Street North through lots 19 through 40 inclusive, in Cox Addition to the Town of Nettleton, Arkansas;
AND:
An alley 15 feet in width running from Henry Street West to Irby Street in Cox Addition to the Town of Nettleton, Arkansas.
WHEREAS, The Council finds that, although platted, the alleys have never been improved or open for public vehicular travel; that the entire length of said alleys as described above in Nettleton Station is owned by your petitioners; that there are public streets within reasonable distance therefrom and which give adequate vehicular access over and across said property; that the owners of the property abutting on said alleys have plans for improvements which are hindered by the existence of the alleys and which, if put into effect, would inure to the benefit of the City in general.
It is, therefore, RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to enter into a written agreement with the owners of the real estate abutting upon said alleys to close and abandon said alleys which are hereby declared to be not needed for highway purposes and as to which it is hereby found that the welfare of the City will be enhanced and promoted by the closing and abandoning of said alleys.
